A New Year - Time to escape the web?

So, it’s a New Year! It brings with it hope and expectation of something better. After the uncustomarily quiet and contained celebrations, a time for reflection. Acknowledging the loss, grief, pain and difficulty of the past year, we can say it is in the past, but for many, it continues. January 1st is just another day. A man-made marker in a man-made timeframe.

All of this will pass as everything continually changes and always will. We have the opportunity to focus on today. The here and now. What is actually in front of us right now. We can cope with anything and everything right now as it is as it is meant to be. Let’s not let the mind and imagination run riot with what may or may not happen in the future. The cob-web of self-doubt, insecurity, inadequacy and unworthiness leads to anxiety. Let’s not let the fear come in. The web is lovingly removed.

So, how do we do this? In order to stay present, we have to be aware of in-coming thoughts without becoming caught up in their web. We can overcome the Ego and use the mind just as the incredible tool that is its true function. We can develop an immunity against fear by allowing our core being of love to flourish. The journey to Self Mastery starts with love for the Self – self-love is not selfish; it is essential for good mental health and wellbeing.
