Eternity of Kindness

The tides change throughout the year. They rise and fall without fail. The waves sometimes come in with some force, crashing noisily onto the shore. Other times a gentle lapping. Sometimes invigorating. Sometimes comforting. Always mesmerising.

Love can feel like this too. It is always there, but felt stronger at some times than others. Much seems to depend where we are in ourselves as to what we feel and at what intensity. This is more important even than who we are with. To be alone or in the company of another or others.

Sometimes it’s simple kindness.

What does it take to be kind?

A smile to a stranger,

Not knowing what’s on their mind?

Noticing the discomfort of others

In the queue, on the bus, in the store.

Are we not all sisters and brothers?

Do we not care anymore?

Are you OK?  - Yes, I’m fine!

-No, really. You seem troubled quite a lot.

[Oh, please don’t ask me, my troubles are mine]

-I, I’m fine. Honestly! …Actually, I’m not.

-Why are you asking?

-Because I care.

-But you don’t know me!

-Until you’re willing to share.

-I don’t want to burden you

-I really don’t mind

shall we have a coffee?

-You are really so kind!
